The City of Scottsdale is urging residents to be prepared for possible gusty winds and thunderstorms creating potential hazards the Weekend of Oct. 10-12.

Residents are encouraged to stay alert to changing weather conditions, review their flood preparedness plans and take precautions now to protect themselves and their property, according to a press release.

The city offers sand and empty bags as a courtesy service to use to help shield homes from flooding during severe weather. Sand and bags are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Scottsdale Water Campus, located near 88th Street and Union Hills Drive and the Scottsdale Police Department District 1 station, 7601 E. McKellips Road. The bags are free, but residents must bring their own shovel and fill the bags themselves.
