MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Meriden police Friday say they've arrested an 18-year-old man accused of "pistol-whipping" a juvenile during a confrontation on a city sidewalk.
Jhoan Alejandro AlmeidaCando was charged with second-degree assault with a firearm, risk of injury to a minor, weapons in a motor vehicle, and carrying a pistol without a permit.
He also faces charges from Oct. 2, when members of the Crime Suppression Unit, Major Crimes Unit, and Evidence Identification Unit found him getting out of his car in the area of Pratt Street. When he saw detectives, they say he allegedly tried to flee, but was quickly apprehended.
Police said a subsequent search of his vehicle reveled a 9mm Polymer firearm without a serial number, which he also did not have a valid pistol permit for. Police sai
