As a lifelong outdoorsman with deep North Dakota roots — from Walhalla and Golden Valley to Bismarck — I’m writing to express my concern over the new nonresident waterfowl zoning restrictions.

My family and I own and manage over 2,000 acres of land in North Dakota. Each year, we invest thousands of dollars of our own money — with no assistance from government programs or conservation groups — to restore wetlands, seed native grasses, and improve habitat that directly benefits waterfowl, upland birds, and other wildlife. We open access to local hunters and support nearby businesses, contributing to both the state’s habitat and its rural economy.
