FARGO — Fargo’s downtown water tower is competing in the national “Tank of the Year” contest, which features tanks across the United States and Canada.
The competition includes a People’s Choice Award, determined by public votes. Earlier this week, Fargo’s water tower was in third place but has since fallen out of the top three. Voting is open to help it reclaim a top spot.
“We’re always appreciative of these awards. And, you know, Tank of the Year is another big award for the first mural that we’ve had on a water tower. So it’s pretty exciting,” said Dan Portlock, Fargo’s assistant water utility director.
The top three tanks in the contest are located in Cheyenne, Wyo.; Cleveland, Miss.; and Pequot Lakes, Minn.
