HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford has its first professional sports championship win in a quarter-century.
Hartford Athletic celebrated its first trophy in club history Friday after winning the United Soccer League (USL) Cup Final last Saturday night.
The team has called the capital city home for the last seven seasons and is Connecticut's only professional soccer team.
"We are so proud of this team," Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam (D) said. "They embody the city. The boldness of the city, the grit of the city. And this is the city's cup. It's going to go all around Hartford, to schools, to hospitals, community centers."
If you still want to watch the team play this season, their final home game of the year is at Trinity Health Stadium Saturday night at 7 p.m.
