HOWLAND, Ohio (WKBN) - No more detours.

As of Friday afternoon, drivers are once again able to drive on SR 46 underneath SR 82 thanks to the completion of ODOT's diverging diamond interchange project.

What does this mean for nearby businesses?

"If the highway engineers are correct, it should make for a much more pleasant trip to the Eastwood Mall complex," said Joe Bell, a Cafaro Company spokesman.

The roughly $20 million project aimed to keep traffic moving in the area, but its big goal was to improve safety.

"This will eliminate those turns where folks are making those left-hand turns into oncoming traffic," said Justin Chesnic, ODOT spokesman. "

Chesnic added that it may take drivers some time to get used to.
