YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- Less than 24 hours after a Youngstown Police Department officer suffered a gunshot wound in the line of duty, Mayor Tito Brown gave an update on his condition.

"He's doing well -- probably a long road ahead of him, but I had a chance to talk with him, and we smiled and talked about a lot of things, and I just thanked him for the tough job that he had," Brown said.

The shooting of the still-unnamed patrolman triggered a four-hour standoff on an otherwise quiet portion of Rush Boulevard that started as a call from nearby residents about a 'suspicious person in the neighborhood.
