CLARK COUNTY, Wash. — A little more than a week ago, a backyard in Washougal was impassable, completely overgrown with blackberries, grapes and all sorts with vegetation.

Now, thanks to some help from some do-good retirees, it’s almost back up to code.

Sean Guard and Darrel Stump are two self-proclaimed ‘old guys with a purpose,’ back at a home in Washougal Friday, trying to clean up the backyard.

“Where I live, I fight blackberries all the time, so I’ve got the big hedge trimmer that cuts through those, so this was just kinda old news of getting in here and cutting this stuff out,” Stump said. “Seems like every summer, I’m out there doing that anyway.”
