PORTLAND, Ore. — As of Friday, there still isn't a decision from the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals regarding whether President Donald Trump can deploy National Guard troops to Portland.

But outside the U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement building in South Portland, many are not simply waiting around. From playing a cello to passing out immigration rights flyers, Portlanders remain focused on their missions.

Advocates from the Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition wait outside the entrance, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon, where up to roughly 12 immigrants a day go for annual check-ins.
