HOCKINSON — For two teams that prefer to use their ground attacks to do most of the heavy lifting, the exclamation point in Friday’s game between Columbia River and Hockinson came through the air.

The Rapids’ Wing-T offense scored touchdowns on all three of their first-half drives to take a two-score lead into halftime.

It took all of one play in the third quarter for River to put the game out of reach in an ultimate 26-6 win, when River junior Greg Blau stepped in front of a short Hockinson pass and returned the interception for a 37-yard touchdown.

“Heading out of half … we were preaching, don’t start slow,” Blau said. “First play out of the half, I jumped (the pass), and I think it really gave us that spark to finish out the game.”
