Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for parts of western Alberta, warning that 5 to 15 centimetres of snow is expected through the weekend.
Rain is forecast to change to snow as temperatures drop, with the heaviest accumulations likely Saturday and Saturday night. Lighter snow is expected Sunday, and some areas in southern Alberta could see flurries continue into Thanksgiving Monday.
The advisory covers areas near Chungo Creek, Nordegg, the Bighorn Reservoir and Ya-Ha-Tinda Ranch. Environment Canada cautions that snow-covered highways and mountain routes may make travel hazardous.
