WATERBURY, Conn. (WFSB) - Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Waterbury on Friday night.

At around 10 p.m. officers were called to the area of South Main Street after a report of a crash involving a pedestrian, the police department said.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene.

Officials said the 49-year-old pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

No further details were released.
