Waterbury police are investigating after a car struck a pedestrian on Friday night, officials said .

On Friday around 10 p.m., Waterbury police officers responded to the area of 2636 South Main St. for a report of a car striking a pedestrian.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, according to police.

The 49-year-old pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Waterbury Police Department.
