LELAND, Miss. (WLBT) - Mayor John Lee of Leland confirmed that there was a mass shooting Friday night.

According to the mayor, the incident was not at the school, but on the main street.

Sixteen people were confirmed to have been shot.

Four of those died from injuries at the scene.

Those four were identified by Washington County Coroner La’Quesha Washington as Oreshama Johnson, 41, Calvin Plant, 19, Shelbyona Powell, 25, and Kaslyn Johnson, 18.

Washington also stated that Amos Brantley, 18, and JaMichael Jones, 34, were confirmed to have died from their injuries at the hospital.

The ten others are being treated at a hospital.

As of right now, the identities of the victims have not been announced.

No arrests or suspects have been announced.
