Second-seeded Wayne Hills conceded only two shots on goal, both of which were turned aside by Devin Wehmeyer, to stifle seventh-seeded Passaic Tech en route to a 2-0 win in the quarterfinal round of the Passaic County Tournament in Wayne.

Wayne Hills’ victory advances it to the semifinals where it will host the winner of Saturday’s matchup between sixth-seeded Pompton Lakes and third-seeded Clifton.

Salih Suyabatmaz got the scoring started for Wayne Hills with a 34th minute goal assisted by Maximo Gayton. Adam Zeerban tacked on an insurance tally in the 55th minute with Colin Russ recording the assist for Wayne Hills (6-5-1).

Passaic Tech drops to 5-9 and will return to regular season action on Monday when it hosts Bergen Tech.
