HONOLULU (Island News) -- For today and tonight, there’s now a chance of thunderstorms over the coastal waters south and west of Oahu. Rain chances have also gone up in that area and on Oahu itself.

A low pressure system far north of Oahu is creating light winds across the islands. This pattern will likely continue through the weekend. As the system weakens later today and tomorrow, winds are expected to pick up again, starting from the eastern islands and moving westward. With lighter winds, land and sea breezes will continue on the western islands and possibly some eastern areas too.

A batch of rain clouds south of Oahu is moving north today. There’s a slight chance of thunderstorms, but only over the coastal waters. This has been added to the forecast.
