STEDMAN, N.C. (WTVD) -- A driver was critically injured after hitting a light pole Saturday night.

It happened in the town of Stedman just before 6 p.m. on Clinton Road.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the driver of a Nissan Pathfinder ran off the road at Clinton Road (Highway 24) and Fred Hall Road, hitting a driveway culvert before crashing into the power pole.

The driver was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where they are in critical but stable condition.

According to the Highway Patrol, the driver faces charges of DWI, careless and reckless driving, exceeding safe speed for weather conditions, failure to maintain lane control, and no operator's license.
