CHANDLER, Ariz. — A stranger in the night may be a hero. But no one knows who he is or where he went.
A Chandler family woke up before 4 a.m. Friday to banging on their door. A man had noticed their house was on fire.
He helped the couple and their two children get out of the house, then left.
“We don’t know who the civilian is but we are grateful to him," said the mother, Liliana Quezada. "I don't know if he had to get to work, or was in a hurry. But we never got his name or anything."
A doorbell camera shows the man helping the family and carrying one of their children. Sparks can be seen in the doorway as the family escapes.
How the fire started is not known. Firefighters believe it began in the back patio.
