Three Newfoundlanders who were detained by Israeli forces have been released.

Sadie Mees, Nikita Stapleton, and Devony Ellis were on what they called a “freedom flotilla” to Gaza and were detained earlier this week before making landfall.

Provincial and federal government officials worked through the week to free the three students, who say they were bringing “aid and hope” to people.

In a social media post this morning, Palestine Action YYT says the three were “feisty as ever” and are in Jordan, on the way back to Canada.
