REDDING, Calif. - The City of Redding is set to enhance safety at intersections by installing new street lighting at 18 unsignalized locations.

Officials say that construction for the project is scheduled to start on Monday, October 13.

The city has partnered with Crosspoint General Engineering for this project, with a contract valued at $632,937.22. The project aims to install overhead street lighting where it currently does not exist, as outlined in detailed plans.

Funding for this initiative comes from a state grant via the Highway Safety Improvement Program, supplemented by 10% matching funds from the Public Works Streets budget.

Construction is expected to be completed by mid-December 2025. Work will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
