Marcia Lawrence, a regular contributor to The Emporia Gazette and The Chase County Leader-News , has been recognized for excellence in journalism.

Lawrence earned first place in the 2025 Published Newspaper category at the Ozark Creative Writers Conference Awards Banquet, held recently in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Her winning entry, “Grand Finale for the Symphony,” was published in both The Chase County Leader-News and The Emporia Gazette .
