A year ago, Sean Downie, a retired E-4 in the U.S. Navy and formerly of Northwood, was told there was a new five-building campus on 15 acres just south of Franklin that was being established for New Hampshire veterans to live in and use.
A volunteer for Easterseals of New Hampshire and Vermont’s veterans services programs, Downie knew well of the need for affordable housing for veterans here, and, as an outreach specialist, he knew of the much larger need facing the veterans’ service groups and organizations — reaching and helping the people they were formed to serve.
