Fall hasn’t gotten off to its usual start. Warm, summer-like temperatures have lingered well into October, with little rainfall to speak of. But on Monday, for better or worse, that persistent pattern is expected to break.

A band of light showers is forecast to develop Sunday night and linger into Monday morning. While everyone has a chance of seeing some rain, the best opportunity for measurable rainfall will be along and north of I-44.

That said, don’t expect a washout as totals are looking very light. A few spots north of the interstate could pick up around a quarter inch, but most areas will only see a trace to a tenth of an inch.

Clouds will stick around early Tuesday before clearing as the day progresses. Temperatures will quickly bounce back to toasty levels.
