An appeal has been launched to trace a man missing from the Isle of Skye who was last seen in Stonehaven .

40-year-old James Robert Thomas or Ball, also known as Jay, leads a nomadic lifestyle and is believed to be camping in a blue tent.

He was residing on Skye up until August 4 when he travelled to Aberdeenshire and then planned to walk south along the east coast towards Dundee.

The last known location of James was Stonehaven Harbour on Thursday, August 7.

Police Scotland is now urging anyone who has seen James or has information about his whereabouts to come forward to help with their search.
