EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Michigan State University is celebrating Disability Pride Month with an open house for its new sensory room in the campus library.

The room is designed with neurodivergent people in mind but is available for anyone to use. Its multi-sensory equipment is designed to support calmness, comfort, and care if you're feeling overstimulated.

Heidi Schroeder is the library's Accessibility Coordinator and helped design the room.

"The main library is a really busy place and can oftentimes be overwhelming so we wanted a space to allow people to recharge and relax and stimulate the senses to relieve stress and anxiety," said Schroeder.
