MADISON (WKOW) -- If you've ever hit a bad bump in the road, imagine that every single day.

That's what Vickie Banker, who lives on Madison's north side, said is happening at a railroad crossing near the Dane County Regional Airport. She said the Packers Avenue railroad crossing has gotten out of control.

"You can hear the clank when you go over it, for sure," said Banker.

Banker used a softball to measure just how bad the damage is on the tracks. They're raised almost as tall as the softball, reaching nearly four inches over the pavement.

She's lived on the north side for more than 20 years and is afraid the loose boards and deep cracks near the tracks could cause serious damage to vehicles — or worse.
