BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — Bridgeport city leaders met Monday night as two lawsuits continue to unfold over the Charles Pointe development and a controversial tax increment financing (TIF) extension.

At Monday night's city council meeting, officials discussed ongoing litigation and the potential financial impact on future development. Attorney with Babst Calland out of Charleston, Tim Miller, was on hand to offer a report and update on the lawsuits.

The first lawsuit was filed by Genesis Partners, the developer of Charles Pointe, against the City of Bridgeport and former Mayor Andy Lang. The developer is asking a federal court to confirm the legality of a 15-year TIF extension approved by the state.
