WHITE HALL, W.Va. (WBOY) — Spur, a K-9 with the White Hall Police Department, celebrated his well-earned retirement on Monday.

Spur first joined the Fairmont Police Department in 2018, before moving with his owner to work with the White Hall Police Department in 2022. During his career, he served as a dual-purpose K-9, meaning he is trained to sniff controlled substances and patrol.

Jason Defrance, the mayor of White Hall, spoke with 12 News about Spur's dedication to the town.

“He's had a very long career in law enforcement. He's done some very big busts. We’ve been happy to have him as part of White Hall,” Defrance said.

In his seven years, Spur tracked down and apprehended multiple suspects who were shooting at law enforcement and sniffed out kilograms of controlled substances.
