CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Missouri’s caves are the inspiration for a Halloween community event at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center on Saturday, October 18.
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is inviting families of all ages to explore their Trek-N-Treat trail event from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Organizers say the free event will feature educational creature characters, interactive games and crafts to guide participants through the “darkness” and reveal how cool and important caves really are.
According to the MDC, caves in southeast Missouri are known to have white cavefish, cave salamanders, grotto sculpin and bats.
“Caves may seem spooky, but they are full of life, wonder, and unique species you won’t see anywhere else,” said MDC Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature
