DENVER (KDVR) — An unusual storm in the state led to floods in southern Colorado, destroying homes and evacuating hundreds of residents across several counties.
Since Thursday, rainfall has led to floods that destroyed two homes and damaged 90 in La Plata County. Meanwhile, hundreds have evacuated, with mandatory evacuations in other areas like Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County.
FOX31's Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Travis Michels said the flooding mostly came from Hurricane Pricilla, which came from the Pacific and moved along the west coast of Mexico last week. A tropical storm can be common in some areas, but Michels said Colorado doesn't usually see the effects — and while the hurricane didn't hit Colorado — the state still saw the repercussions.
