[CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa] — A Waterloo mother detained during an ICE check-in was released hours later, immigrant rights advocates said.
Escucha Mi Voz shared the video below on their Facebook page showing more than 150 people gathered at the Cedar Rapids ICE office on the morning of the event. The group demanded the release of the mother.
After about two hours, the mother was released along with her 15-year-old son, according to Escucha Mi Voz.
The organization has been actively organizing support for immigrants attending their required ICE appointments in Cedar Rapids.
