SPOKANE, Wash. — Huntington Park adjacent to the Monroe Street Dam will close Friday while Avista Utilities conducts rock relocation maintenance work.

The park closes Friday, Oct. 17, for crane assembly and reopens Saturday, Oct. 18. The park will close again temporarily when the two to three-week project concludes for crane disassembly.

Avista will move large amounts of cobble and gravel that have accumulated upstream of the dam back into the river below the dam. The utility conducts this maintenance approximately every other year to prevent damage to the dam's intake structure.
