[DES MOINES, Iowa] — Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand discussed the potential for an audit of the Des Moines Public School District following the arrest of its former superintendent, Ian Roberts.

Roberts was arrested last month. Federal officials revealed that he was in the country illegally and is now facing a federal firearms charge.

Sand explained that a recent law passed by the statehouse complicates the process for his office to conduct audits. He outlined the criteria needed to initiate an audit of the district.
