TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — After a microburst left thousands of homeowners without power and city-wide damage , Tempe Mayor Corey Woods issued an emergency declaration to help with clean-up efforts.

Mayor Woods says the declaration is the first step in securing funding to help the community. Tempe officials, along with county and state representatives, are conducting damage assessments on properties within the city.

If the City of Tempe qualifies for the funds, loans could become available for residents and businesses to help assist with losses not covered by insurance. If there’s extensive damage throughout the city, federal funding could be issued.
