TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A woman who escaped what deputies are calling an attempted kidnapping in Tuscaloosa County is sharing her story of survival and the calmness that helped her get away safely.
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said Christopher Steven Herring is now facing kidnapping charges after he grabbed Williams, pulled a gun, and told her to get in his truck on Tuesday morning, Oct. 14.
Williams was at work on a smoke break when Herring pulled up in his truck. Williams said he asked her for a cigarette and when she went to hand him one, he grabbed her. She said in that moment, she felt a calmness over her.
“He kept trying to get out of his vehicle, and I would shut it with my hip every time, and I kept saying, ‘Please don’t do that. You don’t need to do this.
