LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - Dry and cool weather returns tonight with temperatures falling into the 50s and 60s. Thursday begins with sunny skies as temperatures rise quickly into the 80s by lunchtime, then near 90 during the afternoon. Humidity creeps back into the forecast during the afternoon hours with a few clouds in the sky.

The tropics have turned very quiet as Lorenzo is no longer tropical and no other tropical development is expected through the next week.

With increasing humidity over the next few days, rain chances will follow closely behind. Spotty showers and thunderstorms will pass through the area Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning ahead of a cold front.
