BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a man who was shot and killed outside a restaurant in east Bakersfield Tuesday morning.

Jeffery Stevenson, 34, of Bakersfield was pronounced dead at 1:08 a.m. Oct. 14 in the 600 block of Sumner Street, according to coroner’s officials.

Bakersfield police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area, where they found Stevenson with an apparent gunshot wound. Stevenson was shot, the coroner’s office confirmed.

Footage of the scene showed officers outside Pyrenees Cafe in the corner of Sumner and Kern Streets, with a body covered by a tarp on the curb outside the restaurant.

The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating this case as a homicide. Anyone with information about the investigation is encouraged
