TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — A Troup County inmate who was transported to the hospital this week has died, according to the sheriff's office.
On Oct. 14, the Troup County Sheriff's Office said 56-year-old Jody Wilson was experiencing what appeared to be an "altered" mental health episode. He was examined by the medical staff at the jail and then was taken to the hospital.
The following day, around 11 a.m., the jail staff said it was notified that Wilson had died at the hospital.
The cause of his death is unknown at this time. The sheriff's office said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will conduct an independent investigation.
Wilson was being held for probation violation charges.
