LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A motel in the City of Paris is catching the attention of its neighbors, who are calling for action after a recent police sweep there looking for illegal drug use.
According to the Bluegrass Narcotics Task Force, the Colonial Motel has been linked to multiple overdose deaths in Bourbon County, and it sits next to an elementary school.
Student, staff, and parent well-being is the top priority at Paris Elementary School, according to Principal Leann Pickerill, but she said the Colonial Motel has made that hard.
In her nine years on staff, she said she’s found drug paraphernalia on school grounds and participated in lockdowns during police raids next door. Pickerill said the potential for exposure to a dangerous situation has prompted school staff to be extra caut
