The gangland murder trial of Bilal Hamze has ended after the jury was discharged for being unable to reach a verdict.

Bilal Hamze was killed outside Sydney CBD restaurant Kid Kyoto on June 17, 2021, after a total of 10 shots were fired at him from a stolen Audi.

Hamze had been warned by police and underworld figures that there was a $1 million bounty on his head.

Police officers travelled to Silverwater prison on Tuesday to charge a 32-year-old man, reported to be Samuel John Rokomaqisa, over the brutal murder.

Rokomaqisa was accused of murdering Bilal Hamze and conspiracy to kill Mr Hamze's younger brother, Ibrahem.

Both were listed as senior members of the Alameddine organised criminal network, according to a hierarchy map tendered to the NSW Supreme Court.
