Outrage has erupted over crime in Victoria after CCTV footage was released of the stabbing of a woman in the Melbourne CBD by an offender who was on bail at the time of the attack.

Footage of the attack emerged on Thursday, prompting fresh calls for the Allan Labor government to take further action on surging crime rates across the state.

A 36-year-old Melbourne West woman was walking near the intersection of Little Bourke and Spencer streets about 7.40am on Thursday, October 2, when she was allegedly stabbed by a female offender who approached her randomly.

The 32-year-old offender was arrested and charged with intentionally cause injury (x2) and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.
