After a brief car chase in Tillman’s Corner, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Bayou La Batre man described by law enforcement as “a known drug offender” Wednesday night.

Investigators in MCSO’s narcotics and vice units were conducting a surveillance operation and saw Sam Chhom, 39, involved in “a hand-to-hand transaction,” according to an MCSO statement Thursday morning. When deputies tried to pull his vehicle over near Three Notch Road and Diamond Lane, Chhom drove away.
