October is a magical time of year. Cool breezes, seasons changing, and pumpkin spice all around. In my world, it is a reminder of gratitude and an opportunity to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month. After a long and successful journey of healing, I am thrilled to share that almost five years ago, my terrifying diagnosis and painful and exhausting expedition left me motivated. I am stronger, more appreciative of the small, day-to-day things, and, most importantly, empowered to support and encourage others going through this frightening battle. The easiest steps are in prevention.

Tip 1: Do regular self-exams. You need to know your body to recognize changes.

Tip 2: Get your regularly scheduled mammograms. Catching cancer early is key.
