IRVING PARK — A popular confectionary in Irving Park has been targeted by trolls who left negative reviews online after its owner encouraged solidarity with Chicago’s immigrant communities during Operation Midway Blitz.

Katherine Anne Confections moved into its Irving Park home at 3653 W. Irving Park Road about two years ago. Owner Katherine Duncan — who also has a Logan Square location at 2745 W. Armitage Ave. — offers a variety of treats, including drinking chocolate, truffles, caramels and marshmallows.

Duncan is also part of an effort by local independent business owners to grow Irving Park’s commercial corridor. That’s why she was surprised when a group of “keyboard warriors” started posting one-star reviews of her business this week, she said.
