COMPTON – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed this morning in Compton.

The fatality was reported to the California Highway Patrol around 6 a.m. at the intersection of East Las Hermanas Street and Santa Fe Avenue, a CHP officer said.

L.A. County firefighters pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Their identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The intersection was to remain closed for at least two hours, according to the CHP.
