SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -Friday marks 50 years since the disappearance of Shirley Jane Rose in Springfield.

On Oct. 17, 1975, 9-year-old Rose was abducted while walking to her home at 1309 S. Scenic Avenue from her grandmother’s house at 865 S. West Avenue, according to investigators.

Almost two months later, on Dec. 13, 1975, investigators said two trappers found Shirley’s body in a shallow grave near McDaniel Lake.

What really happened to Rose is still unknown, but her family is still hoping to find answers.
