PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police said they’re preparing for thousands of demonstrators expected to join Saturday’s nationwide “No Kings” protests , which are planned across the country.

The Portland Police Bureau said they aren’t anticipating major issues and are expecting these protests to be similar to ones the city saw earlier this year.

“We'll have [Portland] Fire available with us, as well as our emergency management folks. We're working with TriMet to ensure that the roads…. As they close the roads, we'll be able to redirect some of the bus routes. We're working with ODOT to ensure that some of our off ramps and on ramps are okay for people to be able to safely participate in this event," said assistant chief of operations Craig Dobson with PPB.
