SEYMOUR, Wis. (WKOW) — Lafayette County Sheriff’s Deputies discovered a troubling animal neglect situation involving numerous dogs on Thursday.
The investigation began as deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence on Wardsville Road. During the initial investigation, deputies realized there was an animal neglect situation. A deputy with training in the humane treatment of animals was called to assist.
The following morning, deputies attempted to make contact at the residence with a Green County Humane Society staff member, but no one was home. Deputies returned later that day, seizing 18 live dogs and one deceased dog, all appearing to be German Shepherds.
