TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — No. 1-ranked North Dakota State scored 38 unanswered points after a slow start, and rolled to a 38-7 victory against Indiana State on Saturday in Missouri Valley Football Conference play before 3,252 fans at Memorial Stadium.
Bison senior running back Barika Kpeenu rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on 23 attempts as NDSU improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the MVFC.
Bison QB Cole Payton completed 12 of 18 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown, throwing his first interception this season. Payton also rushed for 71 yards and a score on 10 attempts.
The Bison scored 28 points in the second half after the game was delayed at halftime for more than two hours due to weather. NDSU scored touchdowns on its first four drives in the second half after the lengthy delay.
