LAFAYETTE, LA. (KLFY) -- Louisiana's football team fell to Southern Miss 22-10 during their homecoming game on Saturday, dropping to 1-2 in Sun Belt Conference play.
The Ragin' Cajuns initially took the lead with a 3-yard touchdown run by Lunch Winfield in the first quarter, but Southern Miss quickly overtook them and maintained the advantage for the rest of the game.
Lunch Winfield completed 12 of 21 passes for 112 yards and rushed for a game-high 98 yards. However, Winfield struggled with ball security, throwing an interception in the second quarter and losing two fumbles.
Walker Howard made his return to the field for Louisiana after recovering from an oblique injury sustained in Week 1. Howard completed 2 of 6 passes for 23 yards and also threw an interception.
